New Year’s Eve Colors – Let’s Party!

Boy oh boy, here we are, New Year’s Eve! The first night of the new year. It’s a time for reflection, goodbyes, and most importantly, celebration! NYE is a global holiday, and if you’re throwing a New Year’s Eve party, it can be one of the best nights of the year to spend with family and friends. But, how do you keep things exciting? What New Year’s Eve colors keep the party looking fresh and inspired?

If you’ll be hosting a dinner, cocktail hour, party, or countdown, it’s best to go with NYE color arrangements that keep your guests up into the new year and not asleep before the occasion arrives!

In this blog, we will discuss some New Year’s Eve color choices and design choices so that your party is not only memorable for this year but for years to come!

New Year’s Eve Colors – Fresh Beginnings

Anyone who follows my work understands that every color choice I make has significance aesthetically and symbolically. New Year’s Eve colors are no exception to this, and in fact, it’s a prime opportunity to highlight the symbolic nature of each color selected!

  • Silver

NYE is a night to show off all things silver, and I highly recommend you do! Silver is understood to symbolize elegance, glamour, grace, and financial success. Silver is an NYE classic, and you can incorporate it with almost any color palette you can arrange.

  • Gold

Much like silver, gold is synonymous with NYE. Gold represents success, fortune, luxury, refinement, and glamour. Also, it’s just outrageously fun to outfit yourself and your home with gold on the first night of the new year.

  • Purple

Purple is one of the more understated colors representing wisdom, royalty, collected energy, and power. For NYE, I like to think purple makes a statement about a positive mental outlook for what’s to come and the ambition to embrace the new year.

  • White

White is an angelic color that often represents purity, cleanliness, pure intentions, and new beginnings. Some warm whites on NYE are a great way to say, “we could all use a fresh start.”

  • Black

Black is the hottest color for elegance and formality, drama, and mystery! Mixing black with any metallic color, whether copper, silver, or gold, feels like a match made in heaven. A timeless choice, using black as an accent for anything from what you’re wearing or how you’re decorating, it’s a win-win every time and never gets old!

New Year’s Eve Colors – Glitz and Glam

New Year’s Eve is a night meant to impress with glitz, glam, and fresh beginnings. But somehow, some New Year’s Eve colors and design schemes can leave us wanting more. I’ll be the first to say, let everything sparkle on New Year’s Eve. There’s no better excuse to wear sequin dresses, sparkling jewelry and decorate your home with everything that shines than New Year’s Eve.

There’s simply nothing more magical and fun than adorning your interior with everything shiny, sparkly, and illuminated. Regardless of color or hue, if it shines, sparkles, twinkles, and catches the eye, find a way to incorporate it on New Year’s Eve!

Bring out your silver and gold dinnerware. Pull out your finest crystal champagne flutes. Fill up your finest crystal punch bowl; hold nothing back on New Year’s Eve. If you’re lacking possessions that sparkle and shine, make sure to highlight the few items you do have by creating stark contrasts. For example, if you have silver or diamond-laced jewelry, wear a dark purple or black dress to highlight what is sparkling nearby.

New Year’s Eve Colors – Setting the Scene

This year – forgo the same old party hats and paper plates; go all out! Picture this color arrangement; your guests arrive into your entertainment room to see beautiful shades of spruce green, gold, silver, and deep purple! The windowsills have spruce foliage draped across them, and golden twinkle lights sit in mason jars on each table. You hand out cocktails in golden glasses and champagne flutes. The table of horderves is a cascade of warm greens, soft purples, and deep reds from everything you’ve prepared. You and your friends or family reminisce about the good times of days gone by; you all shine and sparkle as the clock counts down to midnight! It sounds like a great time to me!

Thank You For A Wonderful 2021!

I wanted to take a moment to thank you all, from clients to friends and family, for a great 2021. While not without its challenges, I was happy to continue my work as a color expert throughout the entire year, largely thanks to your support and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to continue sharing color inspiration throughout 2022 and beyond!
