A Look at Four Timeless Colors Women Adore

People are more accepting of different color combos than ever before. Many pick their favorite colors based on experience, trends, or are socially approved choices. For women, there are select colors that are innately loved by most!

Women have been historically conditioned to choose timeless colors that are deemed “good for girls”. Typically, kids are raised (or were raised) to think of pink as the choice feminine color, and blue as men’s choice color. Recently ThoughtCo.com published an article saying that more women are identifying and falling in love with different colors each year!

What’s interesting is the variety of colors women are selecting from. People choose their favorite colors from a very narrow range of the color spectrum.

Blue – why so many adore it!

The blue color family contains a wide variety of colors. I find customers may favor robin’s egg blue to baby blue, and the fact is that one color blue can be very different than the following. Pleasing to both men and women, I have observed that the softer blue-grays or slate blue has silently taken over as a go-to color with neutral attraction. The richer gray-blue can be worked with everything from softer yellows and pinks to vivid reds and striking greens. It’s as if it grew to become a trending color while no one was watching.

Navy or a royal blue has matured to become a genuine classic. This saturated hue in the blue family has been an excellent color choice for a very long time and isn’t going anywhere any time soon! Whether you’re looking at softer or stronger, lighter or fuller, blue offers a great color choice for everything from decorating or picking a suit for the office! Indigo seems to have supplanted black as a rich color that you can dress up or dress down.

Green – a surprise selection for timeless colors.

Green is an example of one of the colors that both men and women feel strongly about. Women drift towards more spirited greens like the brighter lime green, sage or seafoam. A traditional green is a hunter green that has been given new breath in the color realm. A color that joins well with one or two other colors, brighter greens are suitable beside creamy whites, yellows, and different warmer colors. It needs that darker green to pair well with colors in the cooler color ranges like lighter blues or teal blue.

Greens are engaging because of their feeling of freshness while simultaneously seeming restful. Green is also a color that symbolizes nature and will always honor an earthy color palette of warm creamy colors like beige and tan or the deeper chocolaty brown.

Teal – the color trend that isn’t going anywhere.

In various ways, teal gives us the best features of its two ingredients, green and blue. With an energetic vibe, the color teal has an airy quality to it, like its blue counterpart. Teal also feels whimsical and young, which I believe came from its green side. Teal pairs both with warm yellows and oranges, it can also be used with colors such as lavender and blue. A pleasant color, teal is more widespread than ever.

Teal has gained its way onto the historic palette. A softened blue-gray-green is more popular today than ever before. Look at the colors businesses are pushing recently. The dusty color in the sweet spot between blue and green is trending in both fashion and home décor.

Lavender – the greatest attributes of so many colors, all in one hue!

It’s simple to think of lavender as just a lighter shade of purple. Honestly, it is a color that is much more engaging than that. A softer violet is pleasant against the traditional beige and gray palettes. The brighter lavender can be happy, and the more mature plum is sophisticated as any color on the color wheel. Lavender will forever have a touch of romance to it, which is part of its grace! Pantone even chose Ultraviolet for its color of the year not too long ago, showing people are more open to the color family than ever before. According to Pantone, “PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”

The Study Says:

There was a study in 1964, a color and gender study which stated that 76% of women are attracted to cooler colors: blues, greens, purples, and grays. I believe that the comfort level with these cooler colors still endures today for women.

We seldom use any color solely these days, and we are more welcoming to colors and think of colors in groupings. I believe the blue-green – teal and lavender colors are trending colors that women are genuinely attracted to and it will continue that way for years to come.

The possibilities are endless with these color choices. Are you planning an art masterpiece, designing a product, or proposing a home renovation? Feminine colors have mass appeal and can be worked into any color scheme as an accent or the primary hue.
